The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved FULL ACCREDITATION status for 12 Imo State University's (IMSU) matured programmes.
The approval was in a letter from NUC, addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Imo State, dated 30th April 2025, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL. 14/387, signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, The Acting Director of Accreditation, for Executive Secretary. The letter reads in parts:- "In line with section 10(1) of the Education Act, CAP E3, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, the Commission organized the Accreditation of academic programmes at Imo State University, Owerri, in February/March 2025. The programmes accredited are as follows:"
1). M.Sc Accounting
2). M.Sc Business Management
3). M.Sc Marketing
4). Public Administration
5). Architecture
6). Human Anatomy
7). Physiology
8). Education Fine and Applied Arts
9). Education Igbo
10). Chemical Engineering
11). Petroleum and Gas Engineering
12). Estate Management
This implies that the FULL ACCREDITATION STATUS of the above programmes at Imo State University is valid for 5 years.
Imo State University under the watch of Professor Uchefula U. Chukwumaeze, SAN, FCArb, has become a great source of pride for the entire Imo people. The University's Management Team under his leadership has repositioned, reenergized, and almost rebranded Imo State University, and has continued to instill the efficiency and all-round discipline required to move the University forward.
It is imperative to underscore the fact that Professor Chukwumaeze's purposeful administration, which is anchored on providing corrupt-free and quality leadership, as well as a conducive academic environment for the generation and fertilization of creative ideas and knowledge, has recorded unprecedented successes. This is manifested in the successful accreditation programmes, and IMSU students' successful outings at both regional, national, and international levels.
While expressing his joy at the good news from the results of the recently released NUC's Accreditation Programme, he thanked the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope Uzodimma, CON, (Onwa), for his regular support to the Imo State University, in various aspects.
